Speech & Language Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are partnering with a warm, inclusive school in Colchester to recruit a Speech & Language Teaching Assistant. The role starts in September 2026 and offers a full‑time opportunity to support pupils in developing confidence, communication and independence within a supportive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher with daily communication activities and targeted speech and language interventions.
• Support pupils with additional needs such as autism, ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, sensory processing difficulties and other learning differences.
• Help children build confidence, regulate emotions and engage positively in classroom tasks.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt resources and strategies to individual learner needs.
• Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and contribute to planning sessions.
