SQL Applications Systems Engineer

About the role

Our client, a leading global law firm, is seeking a SQL Applications Systems Engineer to join a small, dedicated backend team. The role focuses on maintaining SQL Server instances, ensuring high availability, and supporting modern data and AI tools across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain all SQL Server instances and databases to maximise system availability.
• Diagnose and resolve SQL‑related issues promptly.
• Configure and install Microsoft SQL Server, including log shipping, database mirroring, SQL Replication and AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
• Assist development teams with performance tuning and remediation.
• Support the firm’s document management system (iManage) and related tasks.
• Design, implement and maintain data integrations between firm systems.
• Develop and maintain BI solutions using PowerBI, SSIS, SSAS and SSRS.
• Advise on architecture, configuration, upgrades and customisations of SQL environments.
• Establish and follow procedures for backups, disaster recovery and security.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in a similar SQL engineering role.
• Experience with Azure services is preferred.
• Knowledge of law‑firm environments or iManage is advantageous but not mandatory.
