Staff Accountant - Corporate Accounting

About the role

Equinox is hiring a Staff Accountant for its Corporate Accounting function, covering the international Equinox business in Canada and the UK. The role is a key part of the monthly close process and analysis, works closely with external auditors on the annual audit of UK entities, and supports ad hoc research projects. It reports directly to the Manager of Accounting in the UK office and works closely with the accounting team at the New York headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Perform key functions in the monthly close, including revenue, payroll, rent, general accruals and prepaids, and cash transactions.
• Handle all accounting transactions for international club and studio locations.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations at set intervals depending on account.
• Analyse variances to budget in monthly accounting review meetings.
• Act as the main point of contact for club General Managers on P&L questions and respond to supervisor inquiries on time.
• Meet deadlines for monthly, quarterly and yearly close tasks.
• Partner with other departments such as HR, Legal, Real Estate, Accounts Payable, Treasury and Financial Reporting.

Required profile

• Degree holder preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in accounting, monthly close and journal preparation.
• Experience under IFRS and/or US GAAP is a plus.
• Interests in ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent certification.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and in a team, handling pressure and short deadlines.
• Must have a legal right to work in the United Kingdom.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and OneStream is a plus.
• Proficiency in integrated business systems, spreadsheets, databases and word processing.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
