Staff Engineer – Data Platform & AI

About the role

We are looking for a Staff Engineer to shape the technical backbone of a fast‑growing data group. Working at the intersection of engineering and strategy, you will build a unified AI‑native data layer and collaborate closely with executive leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver a unified data platform, including entity graph, provenance, quality, and APIs.
• Develop production‑ready systems and modern APIs that connect data across multiple business units.
• Lead technical integration of acquisitions, covering data, access, and observability.
• Hire, mentor and grow a small team of AI‑native engineers.
• Define and document architectural standards and AI engineering practices.
• Partner with senior leadership to influence technical strategy and decision‑making.
• Produce clear documentation and run regular demonstrations of progress.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience building data platforms, APIs or data‑led products at scale.
• Hands‑on coding ability in Python, TypeScript and SQL.
• Experience with modern AI tooling or agent‑based development approaches.
• Ability to quickly understand and assess unfamiliar codebases and systems.
• Proven track record designing scalable architectures across multiple services.
• Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness.
• Pragmatic, delivery‑focused mindset with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
