Staff Nurse – Emergency Department (Band 5) – 2 Posts

About the role

This internal vacancy offers two permanent Band 5 Staff Nurse positions within the Emergency Department of Borders General Hospital. The role is based in a busy Trauma Unit that receives patients from medical, surgical, orthopaedic and paediatric specialties.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality nursing care to a diverse range of emergency patients.
• Work across a fast‑paced, unpredictable environment, adapting quickly to changing clinical needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate care.
• Participate in shift work covering nights, days and weekends.
• Potentially rotate to Ambulatory Care services within the hospital.

Required profile

• Current NHS Scotland employee (internal vacancy).
• Experience working in an acute or emergency setting.
• Ability to manage a varied workload and respond swiftly to changing situations.
• Legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
