Staff Nurse – Emergency Department (Band 5)

About the role

North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust is seeking Band 5 Staff Nurses to join its high‑performing Emergency Department in the North East of England. The role involves delivering safe, compassionate, and efficient care to a diverse adult and paediatric patient population in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in the adult and paediatric emergency department, including resuscitation bays and treatment cubicles.
• Assess, triage and manage acute presentations, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team.
• Utilise the dedicated mental health assessment room and co‑located Urgent Care centre as required.
• Document care accurately and adhere to Trust policies and CQC standards.
• Participate in handovers, audits and continuous quality improvement activities.

Required profile

• Current registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Band 5 experience in an acute care setting, preferably within an Emergency Department.
• Demonstrated compassion, teamwork and a commitment to high‑quality patient care.
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic, high‑pressure environment.
