Staff Nurse – Medical High Dependency Unit

About the role
An exciting opportunity for a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join the Medical High Dependency Unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. You will deliver safe, high‑quality, person‑centred care in a fast‑paced acute environment while developing advanced clinical skills.
Key responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence‑based care for patients in a high‑dependency setting.
- Deliver direct clinical care, including technical and invasive procedures, following best practice standards.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous patient records in line with NMC guidelines.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective communication and continuity of care.
- Supervise and support junior staff, students and unregistered staff, fostering a positive learning environment.
- Contribute to quality improvement through audit, research and implementation of clinical standards.
- Assist in the day‑to‑day organisation of the clinical area, ensuring safe and efficient use of resources.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse with current UK NMC registration.
- At least one year post‑registration experience (Band 5 or equivalent desirable).
- Completion of the Flying Start Programme or willingness to undertake further study.
- Interest in acute or critical care nursing and commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to support patients and families in challenging situations.
- Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced, technologically advanced clinical environment.
- Demonstrated independent judgement and teamwork within a multidisciplinary setting.
