Statutory SEND Officer

About the role

The Statutory SEND Officer will join the Statutory Assessment and Review Team on a full‑time, fixed‑term basis. You will manage a caseload of learners with special educational needs across schools, colleges and other settings throughout Northumberland, ensuring statutory processes are completed on time and to the highest standard.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of SEND learners, coordinating with education, health and social care partners.
• Prepare and review Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans that meet statutory requirements.
• Ensure all statutory deadlines are met and documentation is of high quality.
• Support learners in transition planning and preparation for adulthood.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to team reporting.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in SEND or a related field.
• Good working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast‑paced team.
• Commitment to a one‑year fixed‑term contract.
