Store Manager – Retail Leadership Role

About the role

Age UK is seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead its Barnet shop. You will be responsible for day‑to‑day operations, driving sales and ensuring an excellent customer experience while supporting the charity’s mission to help older people.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all store activities, including merchandising, stock control and cash handling.
• Lead, train and develop a team of staff and volunteers to achieve sales targets.
• Monitor performance metrics and implement strategies to maximise profit.
• Maintain high standards of customer service and store presentation.
• Handle physical stock, lifting bags up to 10 kg as required.
• Work a flexible 35‑hour rota across a 7‑day week, including weekends.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a performance‑driven retail environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and develop people.
• Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to work under conflicting priorities and adapt to change.
• Excellent communication with a diverse workforce and customer base.

Required skills

• IT literacy and numeracy.
