Strategic Planning Manager

About the role

The Strategic Planning Manager will lead the development, transformation and continuous improvement of the SCS Planning Function, ensuring planning supports project delivery, programme assurance, change management and project completion.

Key responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of the SCS Planning Strategy and Improvement Roadmap.
• Lead transition of planning processes and governance to align with Delivery Unit structure.
• Assess and recommend improvements to Clause 32 processes, programme reviews, planning governance, reporting frameworks, P6 structures and assurance requirements.
• Drive a “One Planning Team” approach, develop and maintain procedures, standards, templates and methodologies.
• Facilitate workshops, lessons‑learned sessions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with IT and Data teams to enhance reporting via Power BI, integrate data warehouses, automate planning and explore AI solutions.
• Provide strategic advice to the Head of Planning and act as trusted advisor on planning strategies.

Required profile

• Significant experience in planning and project controls on major infrastructure projects.
• Extensive knowledge of NEC contracts and programme management, including Clause 32 submissions.
• Proven experience with programme governance, change management, PMO integration and risk management.
• Advanced Primavera P6 expertise and experience developing planning standards and procedures.
• Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related field.
