Strategy Accountant

About the role

The Work Shop is seeking a qualified Strategy Accountant to lead its financial management and reporting. As a member of the leadership team, you will combine hands‑on accounting with strategic insight to drive efficiency, cost control and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Own budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management and preparation of monthly and year‑end financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, VAT, PAYE and HMRC regulations, and manage the annual statutory audit.
• Provide financial modelling, pricing, margin analysis and commercial support for business planning.
• Manage working capital, banking relationships and funding to optimise liquidity.
• Strengthen financial controls, enhance ERP systems and lead process‑improvement initiatives.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team while overseeing payroll and continuous system upgrades.

Required profile

• CIMA, ACA or ACCA qualified (newly qualified considered).
• Proven experience as a Management Accountant.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge of UK GAAP and Corporation Tax.
• Ability to work hands‑on in a fast‑paced environment and collaborate with senior leadership.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and financial modelling.
• Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems.
• Understanding of UK GAAP.
• Knowledge of Corporation Tax.
