Stress Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Stress Engineer to join our specialist aerospace and defence engineering team in Hertfordshire. You will lead structural analysis across the full product lifecycle, from concept studies to in‑service support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structural analysis activities on complex aerospace and defence programmes.
• Plan, estimate and deliver analysis work packages using both hand calculations and CAE tools.
• Support design development with technical recommendations and detailed assessments.
• Produce and present technical reports to engineering teams and senior stakeholders.
• Assist qualification, testing and validation activities, including root‑cause investigations.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of methods and tools.

Required profile

• Proven experience in structural analysis of complex engineering systems, preferably in aerospace, defence or highly regulated sectors.
• Ability to plan and deliver engineering analysis work packages independently.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary development teams.
• Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills.

Required skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using tools such as HyperWorks.
• Classical hand‑calculation methods for static, dynamic and fatigue analysis.
• Knowledge of non‑linear, impact, aeroelastic and composite structure analysis.
• Technical reporting and stakeholder communication.
