Structural Engineer – Building Structures (Glasgow)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Structural Engineer to join a leading consultancy’s Building Structures team in Glasgow. This role offers the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial and retail projects, supporting design from concept through to construction.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and delivery of structural engineering projects from feasibility through to construction.
• Perform structural analysis and design using steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
• Prepare calculations, technical reports and design specifications.
• Collaborate with Structural Technicians to produce coordinated drawings and BIM models.
• Participate in design team meetings, site visits and inspections.
• Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, Eurocodes and industry standards.
• Manage workload across multiple projects while meeting programme and quality targets.

Required profile

• BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Around two years’ post‑graduate experience on building structures projects.
• Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and Eurocodes.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Well‑organised with strong attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds or Robot Structural Analysis.
• Experience using BIM tools for coordinated modelling.
• Understanding of design principles for steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
