Structured Cabling Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Structured Cabling Engineer to join a national communications contractor on a night‑shift assignment in Swindon. The role involves installing, terminating and testing data cabling in retail and commercial environments, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, terminate and test CAT5/6 data cabling for moves, adds and changes.
• Perform device installations and network infrastructure work on site.
• Carry out work on a night shift, typically on Mondays.
• Maintain accurate records of installations and adhere to asbestos safety procedures.
• Provide two professional references and proof of right‑to‑work before starting.

Required profile

• Valid CSCS/ECS accreditation (or related industry certification).
• Valid IPAF 3a & 3b certification.
• UKATA asbestos awareness certificate (or willingness to obtain online).
• Own hand tools, installation and termination tools, and power drills.
• Experience working in retail or commercial environments.

Required skills

• CAT5/6 cabling installation and termination.
• Data cable and device installation.
• Use of SDS/impact drivers.
