Student Immigration Compliance Officer (Temporary, £16-£19/hr)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Student Immigration Compliance Officer to support a university campus in the South West. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with UKVI regulations while delivering a high‑quality service to students and staff on a temporary basis.

Key responsibilities

• Lead student immigration compliance and engagement monitoring, guaranteeing adherence to UKVI rules.
• Manage reporting through the UKVI Sponsorship Management System (SMS) as a Level 1 user.
• Provide expert advice to staff and students on visa and immigration matters.
• Monitor student attendance, registrations, and changes in circumstances.
• Analyse compliance data, identify trends and produce regular management reports.
• Develop and deliver training for university colleagues.
• Support audits, maintain accurate records and drive continuous service improvements.
• Act as a primary contact with UKVI and external sector bodies when required.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of UK student immigration legislation and compliance requirements within higher education.
• Experience delivering advice and support in a customer‑focused environment.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• High attention to detail when handling complex data.
• Effective communication skills for explaining regulations to diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• UKVI Sponsorship Management System (SMS) – Level 1 user.

What we offer

• Temporary assignment of at least three months, hybrid working initially (three days on‑site) and fully office‑based from September.
• Competitive hourly rate of £16‑£19, dependent on experience.
