Student Library Assistant

About the role

Join the multi‑disciplinary support team in The Exchange library spaces at Blackburn College. As a Student Library Assistant you will help create a welcoming environment for students and support them in using the full range of learning resources and services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide front‑line assistance to students and staff, answering queries about library systems and resources.
• Guide students in accessing and using digital and physical library platforms.
• Patrol the library floor to encourage participation, promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe atmosphere.
• Support the delivery of library services during term time, including occasional evening shifts.

Required profile

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build professional relationships with a diverse student body.
• Experience working in a customer‑focused environment.
• Familiarity with a range of IT packages and library systems.
