Student Support Worker

About the role

We are seeking a resilient and empathetic Student Support Worker to join a specialist provision across multiple sites in the Croydon and Sutton area. You will work directly with young people who may be experiencing trauma, medical needs, or social anxiety, helping them re‑engage with education in a safe, supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support tailored to individual needs.
• Support students across a variety of learning environments and community settings.
• Help young people manage anxiety, emotional needs and barriers to learning.
• Build trust with students who struggle in traditional educational settings.
• Collaborate with staff and external partners.
• Monitor and record student progress and wellbeing.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence and access to a car (essential).
• Ability to travel between multiple sites during the working week.
• Experience supporting young people, especially those with SEN, SEMH or additional needs.
• Calm, patient and emotionally intelligent approach.
• Confidence supporting students with trauma, health needs and social anxieties.
• Flexible, proactive and able to work independently.
• Degree‑level qualification and experience in education preferred.
