Student Worker – Remote AI Development Internship

About the role

Cerence is seeking a university student on a gap year to apply academic knowledge in a real‑world setting, contributing to AI projects while gaining hands‑on experience in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct experiments and develop small applications that translate theoretical concepts into practical solutions.
• Engage with colleagues, supervisors and support teams to progress assigned projects and meet delivery deadlines.
• Take initiative, seek new challenges and contribute to the team’s success.
• Own development tasks, document work and present findings to the team.
• Maintain clear communication with your supervisor and seek guidance as needed.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a UK university pursuing a Computer Science degree or a related field, with at least two years of undergraduate study completed.
• Completed basic Computer Science courses and demonstrated effort in course projects or assignments.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Experience with scripting languages such as shell scripting or Perl.
• Familiarity with both Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Interest in Artificial Intelligence, especially Large Language Models and prompt engineering.
