Study Skills Tutor (Specific Learning Differences)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Study Skills Tutor to support students with Specific Learning Differences (SpLD) at a higher‑education institution in Edinburgh. The role involves delivering personalised coaching that helps learners overcome barriers and achieve academic success.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one study‑skills support tailored to each student’s learning style.
• Assist students in developing effective time‑management, organisation, and academic writing techniques.
• Support the creation of strategies to overcome specific learning barriers in a higher‑education context.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and session outcomes.
• Collaborate with academic departments to ensure support aligns with student requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant professional qualification in SpLD (e.g., Level 7) and membership with a recognised professional body such as PATOSS, BDA or ADSHE.
• Demonstrable experience supporting students with SpLD within an educational setting.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to foster a supportive learning environment.
• Strong organisational skills and commitment to quality‑assurance standards.
