Sub Agent / Senior Engineer – Coastal Sea Defences

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Sub Agent or Senior Engineer to lead the delivery of a major coastal sea‑defence scheme in Folkestone. The role involves managing site teams, subcontractors and ensuring all works meet safety, environmental and tidal constraints.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day delivery of coastal repairs, rock revetments and concrete defence structures.
• Act as Temporary Works Coordinator, maintain the temporary works register and sign off marine permits.
• Plan short‑term programmes around tidal windows and sea conditions.
• Oversee engineering control, inspection test plans and material specifications.
• Lead site safety, produce risk assessments, method statements and enforce environmental controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Sub Agent or Senior Engineer in heavy civil or marine projects.
• Mandatory Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) qualification.
• HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• SMSTS certification, CSCS Card (Black or Gold) and First Aid at Work.
