Substance Misuse Nurse Band 5

About the role

The Forward Trust is recruiting a Band 5 Substance Misuse Nurse to work at HMP Send and Coldingley in Bisley. You will join a specialist team delivering drug and alcohol services within a secure prison environment, supporting inmates to achieve lasting recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and develop personalised care plans for individuals with substance misuse issues.
• Administer and monitor medication‑assisted therapies, ensuring adherence to clinical guidelines.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, prison staff and external agencies to provide holistic care.
• Deliver health education and promote recovery‑focused wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate patient records and produce required reports in line with legal and professional standards.
• Identify safeguarding concerns and implement appropriate risk‑management strategies.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (Band 5) with experience in substance misuse or related clinical settings.
• Willingness and ability to work in a secure prison environment.
• Successful completion of enhanced DBS and HMPPS security vetting (8‑12 weeks).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
