Substance Misuse Nurse – Locum (Crawley)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Substance Misuse Nurse to join a health team in Crawley on a locum basis. The role is full‑time, Monday to Friday, and will initially run for two months with the possibility of extension.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct physical and mental health assessments and refer patients to appropriate services.
• Perform alcohol assessments and determine safe detoxification pathways.
• Assist with titration for opiate‑using service users.
• Screen for blood‑borne viruses using dry blood spot testing.
• Provide Hepatitis B vaccinations and phlebotomy where trained.
• Support the Naloxone strategy and deliver wound‑care assessments and basic dressings.
• Deliver psychosocial interventions in one‑to‑one and group settings.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Proven experience as a substance misuse nurse, including alcohol assessments, blood testing and vaccination administration.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
