About the role
Randstad Education is seeking experienced 1:1 Primary Teaching Assistants to work on a supply basis in Exeter primary schools. This full‑time, term‑time role offers a structured 08:30‑15:30 schedule with no weekend commitments, allowing you to make a direct impact on pupils with diverse learning needs.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one academic support in literacy, numeracy and classroom activities.
- Implement and follow Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) alongside class teachers.
- Manage sensory breaks and promote positive social interaction during recess.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment.
Required profile
- Proven experience working with children in a primary school, care or youth‑work setting.
- Understanding of special educational needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language delays.
- Excellent patience, communication and adaptability.
- Valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Required skills
- Experience with implementing EHCPs.
- Knowledge of SEN strategies and sensory regulation techniques.
