Supply Chain Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead materials planning, inbound logistics and warehouse operations at a key manufacturing site in Sunderland. The role is critical to ensuring uninterrupted material flow, inventory optimisation and operational excellence in a fast‑paced, customer‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead materials planning activities to maintain material availability and prevent production disruption.
• Manage supplier schedules, material call‑offs and expediting to mitigate supply risks.
• Oversee warehousing, inventory control, goods receipt and line‑feeding operations.
• Drive inventory accuracy, traceability, FIFO compliance and overall warehouse efficiency.
• Monitor logistics performance, freight spend and inventory investment.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Deliver continuous improvement initiatives across materials and logistics functions.
• Lead, develop and motivate materials and warehouse teams to achieve operational KPIs.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of production‑driven planning and inventory management.
• Experience managing warehouse and materials teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused approach to problem solving.

Required skills

• ERP/MRP system knowledge.
• Data analysis capability.
