Supply Planning Lead

About the role

We are seeking a Supply Planning Lead to join a well‑established FMCG manufacturing business in Bury. The successful candidate will own the end‑to‑end supply planning process, ensuring that materials and finished goods are available to meet customer demand while keeping inventory at optimal levels.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the supply planning function, creating and maintaining accurate supply plans aligned with production capacity and demand forecasts.
• Monitor inventory levels, implement stock optimisation strategies and minimise waste.
• Collaborate with procurement, production, warehousing and logistics teams to ensure smooth material flow.
• Analyse planning data, identify trends and provide recommendations to improve supply‑chain performance.
• Manage planning parameters within the ERP/MRP system to support business objectives.
• Identify potential supply risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Produce and present supply planning reports and KPIs to senior stakeholders.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives across planning processes.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a senior supply planning role within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
• Strong understanding of supply‑chain principles, inventory management and production planning.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Organised, able to manage multiple priorities and, ideally, experience leading or mentoring a planning team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with planning software and data analysis tools.
