Supply Teacher – Year 1 (Primary) – Tunbridge Wells

About the role

Hays Education is partnering with primary schools in Tunbridge Wells to recruit enthusiastic Year 1 teachers on a supply basis. The role involves guiding pupils as they transition from Reception to Key Stage 1, fostering confidence, independence and foundational literacy and numeracy skills.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons for Year 1 classes.
• Support pupils in developing core reading, writing and numeracy competencies.
• Maintain a positive classroom environment and manage behaviour effectively.
• Collaborate with school leadership, colleagues and parents to monitor pupil progress.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards it.
• Experience teaching within Key Stage 1, preferably Year 1.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management abilities.
• Commitment to pupil development and inclusive practice.

Required skills

• Ability to design creative, inspiring lessons for young learners.
• Effective communication with pupils, parents and staff.
