Support Drilling Operative

About the role

First Military Recruitment is partnering with a leading ground‑investigation contractor to recruit Support Drilling Operatives for projects across the North East. The role involves working outdoors alongside experienced Lead Drillers, providing hands‑on assistance on a variety of drilling sites while receiving comprehensive in‑house training.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Driller in the safe and efficient execution of drilling operations on client sites.
• Lift, move, load and unload drilling equipment and associated materials.
• Prepare work areas and ensure all equipment is ready and available throughout each project.
• Carry out labour‑intensive tasks while adhering to health‑and‑safety standards.
• Perform basic maintenance, fault‑finding and minor repairs on drilling machinery.
• Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients on site.
• Travel to and work away from home as required, with accommodation and meal allowances provided.

Required profile

• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling.
• Mechanical or engineering background, or experience in construction/groundworks.
• Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
• Professional attitude with a focus on client service.
