Support Driver – Drop Side Van Operations

About the role

As a Support Driver you will operate a drop‑side van, transporting materials to and from local depots, suppliers and construction sites. You will also collect barriers, cones and fittings after works are completed and perform jet washes, ensuring sites are left clean and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Drive and operate a drop‑side van safely, including towing plant where required.
• Load, deliver and collect materials, barriers, cones and fittings on construction sites.
• Perform jet washes and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
• Work unsociable hours when emergencies arise to support operational teams.
• Ensure all work follows safe working methods and statutory requirements.
• Maintain security, cleanliness and good care of the company vehicle, equipment and plant.
• Maintain good customer and client relations and complete required documentation.
• Report safety issues in line with company procedures and use the GARD smartphone system for feedback.
• Liaise with Support Services and Street Works teams to manage liabilities and promote a right‑first‑time approach.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence.
• Full towing licence.
• NRSWA Unit 2 certification.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 kg.
• Willingness to work occasional unsociable hours.
