Support Services Assistant - Hotel Services

About the role

Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Support Services Assistant, helping to keep our healthcare environment clean, safe and welcoming. You will work across cleaning, catering, laundry and portering duties at Eastwood Health Centre, supporting patients, visitors and staff during the evening shift.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cleaning tasks to maintain high standards of hygiene across clinical areas.
• Assist catering services, including meal preparation, distribution, dishwashing and temperature monitoring.
• Support patient clothing services by sorting, washing and preparing garments for return.
• Carry out porter and messenger duties, transporting patients, mail, equipment and essential supplies.
• Operate cleaning, catering, laundry and portering equipment safely and according to procedures.
• Report faults, complete departmental records and follow work schedules.
• Adhere to health and safety, infection control and quality standards while delivering excellent customer service.

Required profile

• Positive attitude with a commitment to high‑quality support services in a healthcare setting.
• Willingness to undertake training in cleaning, catering, laundry and portering duties.
• Basic understanding of health and safety practices or ability to learn them.
• Awareness of infection prevention and control procedures or readiness to be trained.
• Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with patients, visitors and colleagues.
