Support worker - Deaf Community

About the role

Join Cygnet’s dedicated team delivering high‑quality care to deaf service users with mental health needs. This full‑time position (42 hours per week) works across a mixed shift pattern of three to four 12‑hour days in a newly established step‑down community setting in Blackburn.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personalised physical and emotional support to deaf individuals throughout their recovery journey.
• Assist with daily living activities, medical and welfare needs, and encourage independence.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team at Cygnet Bury Dunes to ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate records and report on service users’ progress and any concerns.

Required profile

• Native British Sign Language (BSL) user or minimum Signature Level 2; training available for eligible candidates.
• Experience working with or living alongside deaf people is highly desirable.
• Strong team player with a genuine interest in supporting deaf individuals with mental health challenges.
• May be d/Deaf themselves.

Required skills

• Proficiency in British Sign Language (Signature Level 2 or higher).
• Ability to communicate effectively with deaf service users and the wider care team.
