Support Worker

About the role

We are seeking a passionate, compassionate and resilient Support Worker to join our Learning Disabilities Social Care Service in Kent. You will work 37.5 hours per week across flexible shift patterns, helping customers engage in activities, develop independent living skills and build social connections.

Key responsibilities

• Support customers to undertake a timetable of preferred activities, including sport, leisure, community groups and local amenities.
• Develop independent living skills such as cooking, shopping, cleaning and decorating.
• Facilitate social interactions, maintaining existing relationships and creating new ones.
• Communicate with customers in a person‑centred way, supporting them to express their wants and needs.
• Help customers manage anxieties and frustrations using Positive Behaviour Support and autism‑specific approaches.
• Collect behavioural data and complete essential paperwork for management review.
• Drive customers to activities using the customer’s vehicle, rotating with the wider team.
• Liaise with families, social workers, psychologists and commissioning teams.

Required profile

• Passionate, compassionate and resilient attitude.
• Legally eligible to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
• Willingness to work flexible shift patterns (e.g., 7.30am‑3pm, 2.30pm‑10pm, 7.30am‑10pm).
• Ability to obtain a DBS check.
