Support Worker

About the role

Medgen Healthcare is looking for compassionate Support Workers to provide high‑quality care for children and young people with complex mental health needs in Torquay. You will help young people feel safe, understood and supported in their daily lives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide emotional support and reassurance to children experiencing anxiety, distress or challenging behaviour.
• Assist children with autism and ADHD to manage routines, transitions and sensory sensitivities.
• Support daily living activities such as personal care, meals, hygiene and structured routines.
• Implement behaviour support plans and positive behaviour strategies.
• Use PMVA de‑escalation techniques to manage challenging situations safely.
• Maintain accurate, timely records of care provided and incidents.
• Promote a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment tailored to each individual.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months UK experience as a Support Worker.
• Experience supporting individuals with autism, ADHD and challenging behaviour.
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Current PMVA training (or willingness to complete training).
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Good understanding of safeguarding, child protection and professional boundaries.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high‑pressure situations.
• Ability to provide a clinical reference.
