Support Worker – Maternity Cover (Full‑time)

About the role

Cygnet is seeking a compassionate Support Worker to cover maternity leave at its Nightingale residential service in Bournemouth. The role is full‑time, 42 hours per week, and involves supporting adults with autism and learning disabilities to live independently.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning and personal hygiene while encouraging independence.
• Support residents in attending community activities, including cinema, swimming pools and college courses.
• Promote personal development and teach new life‑skills.
• Maintain accurate resident records to monitor health and wellbeing.
• Provide emotional and physical support, especially for individuals with challenging behaviours.

Required profile

• Positive attitude and caring approach.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Previous experience with adults who have autism or learning disabilities is desirable.
• Understanding of challenging behaviour is desirable.
