Support Worker – Refuge Support for Women

About the role

We are seeking a calm, flexible, and engaging Support Worker to deliver refuge‑based support and wellbeing activities for women affected by domestic abuse and complex needs. The role involves creating a safe, empowering environment where residents can rebuild confidence, resilience and social skills.

Key responsibilities

• Provide evening refuge support, delivering enriching activities that promote safety and positive future choices.
• Plan and facilitate practical and therapeutic sessions such as cooking, journaling and confidence‑building exercises.
• Empower clients to recognise domestic abuse dynamics and support their recovery.
• Promote wellbeing through activities that enhance self‑awareness, emotional health and social interaction.
• Work with women experiencing mental ill‑health, substance misuse, disabilities, homelessness, forced marriage, honour‑based abuse or domestic slavery.

Required profile

• Female candidates only, as gender is a genuine occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010.
• Experience in roles such as Domestic Abuse Support Worker, Refuge Support Worker, Women’s Support Worker or similar.
• Ability to work flexible shifts on a rota basis, up to 37.5 hours per week.
