Support Worker – Respite Service (Learning Disabilities)

About the role

Join Heart of England Mencap as a Support Worker in the Respite Service for people with learning disabilities. You will help customers feel safe, confident and independent while they stay away from home.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation and encourage independence in daily living tasks.
• Provide personal care such as washing, dressing and grooming.
• Administer medication safely and accurately.
• Deliver positive behaviour support and promote wellbeing.
• Welcome customers, manage check‑in and check‑out processes, and support sleep‑in shifts when required.

Required profile

• Previous care experience preferred.
• Caring, positive and reliable attitude.
• Willingness to learn and develop.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and sleep‑ins.

Required skills

• Medication administration.
• Positive behaviour support.
