Support Worker – Scottish Island Care Roles

About the role

Randstad Care is seeking enthusiastic care professionals to join short‑term and longer‑term placements across Scotland’s island communities, including Argyll & Bute, the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland. You will provide direct support to residents in care homes, supported‑living settings or through home‑care services, helping them maintain independence and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personal care and daily living assistance to service users.
• Support individuals with medication administration and health monitoring where required.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement care plans.
• Maintain accurate records and report any changes in condition.
• Participate in community activities and promote social engagement.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in a care or support setting (e.g., HCA, Support Worker, Senior Care Assistant).
• Current right‑to‑work documentation and up‑to‑date mandatory training.
• Willingness to obtain or hold PVG scheme membership.
• Adaptable, reliable and able to integrate into close‑knit island communities.

Required skills

• Basic care‑related competencies such as personal hygiene assistance and mobility support.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures in care environments.

What we offer

• Competitive hourly rates: £19.62‑£23.00 (PAYE/Umbrella) for HCAs & Support Workers, higher rates for senior roles.
• Free shared accommodation for the duration of the placement.
• Reimbursement of ferry travel costs to and from the islands.
• Flexible contract lengths from 12 weeks up to 6 months, with up to 2 weeks paid holiday after the initial period.
