Support Worker – Specialist Care Home

About the role

We are seeking a Support Worker to join Vane Hill Care Home, a specialist service in Torquay providing structured, enablement‑focused care for adults with complex mental health conditions. The role involves delivering person‑centred support to promote independence, stability and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care, mobility and mealtimes while maintaining dignity and safety.
• Follow individual care plans and support structured daily routines.
• Respond sensitively to changing physical and mental health needs.
• Work collaboratively with the wider care team to ensure a calm and stable environment.
• Build positive relationships with residents to promote confidence and wellbeing.

Required profile

• Willingness to learn and develop within a specialist care setting.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable and professional attitude.
• Previous care experience or relevant qualification is beneficial but not essential.

What we offer

• £12.71 per hour, contracted 34 hours per week (alternate weekends).
• Day shifts and waking night shifts available; bank (zero‑hours) work also possible.
• Paid DBS check, pension scheme, uniform provision.
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on full‑time contract).
