Support Worker – Supported Living (Brighton)

About the role

Southdown is seeking a compassionate Support Worker to join its Brighton supported‑living service. You will help adults with learning and physical disabilities live independently, enjoy community activities and maintain daily routines.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care, cooking, cleaning and other daily living tasks.
• Encourage participation in community outings such as beach walks, cinema visits, shopping and café trips.
• Support clients in developing confidence and independence through tailored activities.
• Provide night‑time support, including waking‑night and sleep‑in shifts, and follow disturbance‑allowance procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of support provided and communicate any concerns to senior staff.

Required profile

• Genuine passion for helping people with learning disabilities.
• Ability to work flexibly across a 37‑hour week, including unsocial hours.
• Good communication skills and a respectful, person‑centred approach.
• Willingness to undergo full training if prior experience is limited.

Required skills

• Basic care skills for personal hygiene, meal preparation and household tasks.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures in a residential setting.
