Support Worker / Teaching Assistant – Milton Keynes

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Support Worker / Teaching Assistant to join a large college in Milton Keynes. In this role you will help students with diverse learning needs access the curriculum, develop independence and reach their potential. You will work closely with teachers and the multidisciplinary team to provide inclusive, personalised support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to students within the classroom.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Support pupils with Special Educational Needs, including social, emotional and behavioural challenges.
• Offer personal care and hygiene assistance when required.
• Promote positive behaviour and an inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor and record student progress and give feedback to the teaching team.
• Assist students during practical activities, break times and off‑site educational trips.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or young people is preferred.
• Basic understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) is highly desirable.
• Willingness to provide personal care, including toileting assistance.
• Strong communication skills, patient, empathetic and reliable.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Relevant certifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant are an advantage but not essential.
