Support Worker - Young Persons

About the role

As a Support Worker for Young Persons at Peabody in Stevenage, you will help vulnerable young people live independently and thrive in their communities. The role involves providing person‑centred assistance in supported housing, empowering individuals to develop life skills and achieve their goals.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct needs and risk assessments and develop personalised support plans.
• Assist young people with daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and managing finances.
• Support individuals in accessing community resources, sustaining their current housing and exploring future housing options.
• Liaise with external agencies, attend team meetings and training, and maintain accurate records.
• Promote safeguarding, equality and the values of Peabody in all interactions.

Required profile

• Experience supporting vulnerable people in a community or supported‑living setting, either paid or voluntary.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with young people and partners.
• Compassionate, empathetic and motivated to make a difference.
• Confidence to work independently, including lone working, and as part of a team.
• Valid driving licence and own vehicle for travel between schemes.

Required skills

• Good IT literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and data‑entry systems.
