Sustainability Manager

About the role

The Sustainability Manager will lead the sustainability team at a national construction business based in Workington. You will develop and implement sustainability strategies that align with project goals and client expectations, supporting the company’s ISO 50001 commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop project‑specific sustainability management plans aligned with strategic objectives.
• Liaise with site teams, supply chain partners and stakeholders to meet sustainability targets.
• Create communication tools such as guidance documents, newsletters and alerts.
• Collect and report energy and emission data in line with ISO 50001 requirements.
• Identify value‑adding sustainable solutions and promote the use of sustainable materials.
• Produce case studies and best‑practice documentation.
• Collaborate with procurement to drive continuous improvement.
• Provide monthly performance reports on sustainability metrics.

Required profile

• Degree‑level qualification or equivalent experience in construction sustainability.
• Membership or progress towards ISEF (or similar professional body).
• Strong understanding of construction processes and ability to work with engineers.
• Willingness to lead by example and pursue further training.
