System Administrator Lead

About the role

Met Business Services (MBS) is building a centralised service delivery model for the Metropolitan Police. The System Administrator Lead will head the system administration team, overseeing the maintenance, upgrade and management of software, hardware and network assets to ensure a secure and efficient IT environment that supports the organisation’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the system administration team, allocating tasks and monitoring performance.
• Maintain, upgrade and troubleshoot servers, workstations, storage and network infrastructure.
• Implement security controls, patches and updates to protect data and services.
• Collaborate with the Services and Operations team to optimise service delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the design of end‑to‑end services.
• Ensure documentation, change management and compliance with Met standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a system administration team in a complex organisational environment.
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, security best practices and service operations.
• Ability to align technical solutions with business objectives and user needs.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
