System Design Engineer – Electrical & Mechanical

About the role

We are seeking a proactive System Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Redhill. The role involves turning concepts into detailed, production‑ready designs across electrical, mechanical and systems domains, supporting projects from concept through to manufacture and delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed electrical and mechanical drawings for engineering projects.
• Develop design concepts from first principles to final output.
• Create 2D and 3D CAD drawings to recognised industry and ISO standards.
• Generate STEP files and technical documentation for customers and project teams.
• Design electrical enclosures, control panels and 19‑inch rack systems.
• Produce supporting Visio diagrams and technical drawings as required.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure designs meet technical, quality and customer requirements.

Required profile

• HNC, HND, apprenticeship qualification or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
• Experience producing electrical and mechanical engineering drawings in a commercial environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Eligibility for Security Clearance (SC).

Required skills

• AutoCAD and other CAD tools (2D/3D).
• Electrical CAD packages such as SEE Electrical or ETAP.
• Visio for diagramming.
• Knowledge of BS8888 drawing standards.
• Understanding of electrical safety, EMC and Low Voltage Directive (LVD) requirements.
