System Design Engineer

About the role

We are supporting a leading independent provider of project engineering in Redhill. The company seeks a System Design Engineer to develop and refine mechanical and electrical designs, producing high‑quality documentation for internal and client use.

Key responsibilities

• Apply recognised drawing standards, including BS8888 2017.
• Develop design concepts from first principles and translate rough mechanical ideas into detailed 2D and 3D drawings.
• Create STEP files for client hand‑over and generate Visio diagrams as required.
• Produce electronic and mechanical drawings using CAD tools of choice, assisting in software selection.
• Utilise AutoCAD and, where appropriate, electrical CAD packages such as SEE Electrical or ETAP.

Required profile

• Minimum HND/HNC, apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• At least four years’ experience producing electronic and mechanical drawings at volume.
• Knowledge of EU electrical safety directives, BS7671 18th edition, and relevant EMC/LVD standards.
• Ability to obtain SC Security Clearance.
• Proficiency with standard office applications.
