System Optimisation Engineer

About the role

The System Optimisation Engineer will support Thames Water’s clean water network across a defined geographic area. You will use technical expertise to keep the network safe, efficient and resilient while responding to incidents and shaping long‑term performance strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, investigate and resolve network performance issues, including low‑pressure events and emerging risks.
• Lead technical response during operational incidents and emergencies to minimise customer impact.
• Provide technical input for engineering projects, planned activities and risk assessments.
• Develop operating strategies that balance service quality, leakage reduction and network resilience.
• Analyse operational data to identify trends and continuous‑improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of hydraulic principles and clean‑water network operations.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with sound technical decision‑making.
• Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (advantageous).
• Experience in the water or utilities sector and knowledge of regulatory requirements is beneficial.

• Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience.
