Systems Accountant / Credit Controller

About the role

This position offers a fantastic opportunity to join a well‑established, expanding SME in the South East of England. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will combine credit control duties with systems improvement and implementation tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Assume full credit control responsibilities, monitor credit limits and work to reduce overall debt.
• Liaise with clients to understand debt levels and suggest improvements to existing processes.
• Prepare and send reminders, statements and support automation projects for credit control.
• Assist with other accounting elements such as purchase ledger and payroll as needed.
• Participate in upcoming projects including expense system replacement, automation of sales and purchase ledgers, Access database reporting enhancements, and migration to a single Sage 50 instance.

Required profile

• Experience working in SME environments, comfortable with variety and change implementation.
• Good knowledge of Sage and Excel, with the ability to understand and improve accounting systems.
• Strong understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping; AAT qualification is beneficial.
• Own transport required due to the rural location.
