Systems Design Engineer – System Performance (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Systems Design Engineer specialised in System Performance to join a leading defence organisation on a 6‑month contract, with the potential for long‑term extension. The role is based in Stevenage and operates in a hybrid model, requiring four days on‑site each week.

Key responsibilities

• Assess system performance using complex mathematical models, including 6‑Degree‑of‑Freedom (6‑DoF) simulations.
• Analyse the impact of algorithm, subsystem, or physical property changes on safety and performance envelopes.
• Support requirements definition, concept assessment, and product review gates throughout the missile programme lifecycle.
• Provide pre‑ and post‑firing trial planning, analysis, and verification support.

Required profile

• Experience as a Systems Design Engineer, Simulation & Modelling Engineer, or Algorithm Engineer.
• Proven ability to work on defence or high‑technology programmes.
• Willingness to work 37 hours per week with overtime calculated at time‑and‑a‑quarter.
