Systems Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and meticulous Systems Engineer to join our innovative team at Leidos, supporting mission‑critical MOD projects that safeguard UK national security. The role involves supporting, maintaining and improving complex systems while offering substantial learning and professional growth in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software faults to minimise downtime.
• Oversee inventory, track equipment and manage logistics for system components.
• Assist in build processes, configuration management and quality control to maintain system integrity.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on system integration, testing and deployment.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation on processes, configurations and troubleshooting.
• Support routine maintenance, upgrades and performance monitoring.
• Uphold safety guidelines and organisational standards during technical operations.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical engineering, or related fields.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software faults.
• Experience in inventory or stores processing and equipment tracking.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and reporting.

Required skills

• Personal Role Radios (PRRs) configuration or maintenance.
• Radio Frequency (RF) systems setup, testing and troubleshooting.
• ATAK (Android Tactical Assault Kit) integration or similar tactical communication platforms.
• IP configuration, including network protocol setup, IP addressing and routing.
• Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP.
• Hardware and software troubleshooting.
