Systems Engineer

About the role

We are supporting a leading independent provider of project engineering in Redhill. The company seeks a Systems Engineer to join its growing team and act as the in‑house product expert for selected systems and applications.

Key responsibilities

• Provide accurate, timely technical information for engineering investigations.
• Support design, requirement capture and development of value‑added services.
• Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation for new solutions.
• Collaborate with the Product Management team on roll‑outs.
• Own, investigate and resolve escalated engineering service issues.
• Develop and maintain personal expertise in bespoke products and security best practices.

Required profile

• Degree (2:1) or HND/HNC in IT, Programming or Engineering, or at least 3 years equivalent experience.
• Professional, flexible approach with a proactive, can‑do attitude.
• Analytical mindset capable of diagnosing complex faults and following up corrective actions.

Required skills

• TCP/IP networking concepts, including routing, switching and firewalling (Layer 7 firewalls).
• Linux (CentOS/Ubuntu) administration, Apache, MySQL.
• Asterisk/VoIP platforms.
• Windows Server and intermediate VMware experience.
• Scripting in Bash and Perl.
• Knowledge of satellite networks, traffic shaping and hardware/software system development.
