Systems Engineer – Nuclear Hardening (6‑month contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Systems Engineer with specialist knowledge of Nuclear Hardening to join a leading Defence and Aerospace client on a six‑month contract in Portsmouth. The role involves supporting the Systems team from concept design through to installation and customer hand‑over, ensuring compliance with MOD security requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design compliant equipment installations and produce associated test plans and evidence.
• Identify stakeholders, capture requirements and define solution boundaries for Nuclear Hardening.
• Develop architecture concepts in collaboration with IS/IT specialists and assess mitigations.
• Lead engagement with test houses and customer stakeholders to agree NH responses.
• Perform modelling, trade‑off and performance analyses using systems‑engineering techniques.
• Validate architecture, manage interface requirements and verify implementation.
• Conduct operational, in‑service and impact evaluations throughout the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• Working knowledge of Nuclear Hardening standards and processes.
• Experience with MilSatCom systems and defence‑grade equipment.
• Ability to obtain high‑level MOD Security Clearance.
• Proven experience in systems‑engineering activities across the full lifecycle.
